The Invisibility

Exhibition Design, 2018

Even if tuberculosis is the number one cause of death from infectious disease in China, the public don't know much about this disease. I hope I can do something to change this situation through this exhibition.

Symbols

I designed three symbols to represent different stages of the reproduction of tuberculosis germs.

Exhibition — Masked Propagation

With the help of ultraviolet, people can see symbols that represent tuberculosis on every gauze mask. Correspondingly, tuberculosis will propagate in an invisible way in our real life.

Exhibition — Vulnerable Position

Red balloons implies tuberculosis just act like latent bombs which could lie dormant in lungs for years and nobody knows when it would burst. People might be much closer to tuberculosis than they have thought.

Exhibition — Ignored Deterioration

Each button represents one sign of tuberculosis. By pressing different buttons, people are able to see varying degrees of cavity formation. They can also stand in the circle to observe the formation in their shadows and imagine that the deterioration is really happening on their lungs.

Exhibition — Brief Survey

People have opportunities to attend a brief survey at the end of the show by detaching the stickers from tickets and putting them on the board.
